ABOUT US

The foundation existed on its embryonic stage since November of 2005. Then on January 12, 2007, we decided to move to a different level by incorporating the foundation and baptized it Organization for the Development of Port-Margot, Inc (ODEP). Based in Florida, USA, ODEP is a non-profit, non-partisan, apolitical, non-sectarian, philanthropic organization of Haitians and Haitian-Americans originally from Port-Margot, Haiti, organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes for the benefit of the Haitian and Haitian-American communities here and in Port-Margot.

We pledge not to carry on any propaganda or attempting to influence legislation. We will not participate in or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.

We will open membership drive as stated in our bylaws and occasionally promote fundraising activities, receive and accept gifts as permitted by Federal and State Laws in order to reach our goals. The proceeds of these fundraising events and donations will be used strictly to fund the charitable and educational activities set forth by the organization.

As Port-Margot is in need of many basic necessities like electricity, healthcare, education, water etc…, which we take for granted over here, we figure we can tackle them one at a time in order to improve the standard of living back home. We don’t claim to have a magic wand in our hands, but we expect to move on the right direction with everyone’s help. After all, doesn’t a journey of thousand miles start with only one step? We can’t afford to limit ourselves while so many other communities in the Diaspora had followed the same path and succeed.
